I was talking to my sisters yesterday about a lot of stuff. Then somehow she said about this sentence ' Jack of all trades master of none'. This actually reminds me to instropect myself and the results are that I know lately I have been acting like one. I mean I did a lot of stuff without actually mastering all of them rightly. This is actually a good reminder so that now I am thinking to stop and think first and decide what do I actually want. I don't want to be ' Jack of all trades master of none'. It is better to learn specific things but being good at them rather than being able to do a million things but only up to a basic level.
Once more time, don't be a 'Jack of all trades master of none'.

In my opinion it is important to be Jack of all trades, because no education can go amiss. No matter how trivial it seems, learn it and at least know the basics. I am on my way of becoming Jack of all trade, because I always think that it is important to know many things and expand your horizon. Although I believe that Sherlock Holmes would disagree with me, because according to him knowing stuff that is not related to your job will only overcrowd your brain.
However, I also agree that even though it is important to be Jack of all trades,it is also important for us to at least master some of that trades. Try to be a master at something that is useful, and related to your job or what ever your dreams are.
In the end, I have to say that being Jack of all trades is not that bad, as long as you are master of some.
Actually, hate to be the devil's advocate, but in most contexts you SHOULD be a jack of all trades. Although proficiency in individual aspects of a whole will not be of the highest tier, you will be overall more rounded and better able to adapt to changing situations. Especially as an engineer, you should be able to understand fundamental concepts and liaison with others from all fields including field crews, accountants, colleagues in other departments and laymen. Just my 2 cents Yen. =)
